Curriculum Vita

Biography

Annabelle Dempsey is an environmental and data scientist with interests in karst hydrology and karst morphology. Other professional interests include conservation, geography, and photography.

It is her firm belief that an understanding of karst landscapes, particularly their hydrology and morphology, can be used to make the world a better place.  There are many cities and towns within her home state of Tennessee that are built atop vast karst systems. The challenges presented by this situation-which can include increased flooding, risk of sinkhole formation, and countless others-can be mitigated if karst is studied.

Annabelle is seeking her masters in Geology, with her research focusing upon karst hydrology and applications of GIS to better understand the interactions between karst and urban systems.
